The F.A.X. Machine is an unlockable station in the [[Auto Shop]] via the [[Fabrication Station]]. The Machine will display one of 150 messages upon loading a save from the Shop or returning to the Shop from a trip. The sources of these messages are unknown, but may be emanating from other zone residents past and present. The messages include radio chatter, cocktail recipes supposedly by [[Oppy]], news bulletins, and various nonsensical or corrupted others. The messages appear in English, Spanish, and morse-coded English.

Pacific Drive features many different types of cosmetics that can be applied to the [[Car]]. These take the form of spray paint, decal kits, and accessories. While the paint and decals can be used immediately when found, accessories will need to be recovered from the game world and placed in the [[Auto Shop#Detailing Station|Detailing Station]] before they can be used. Cosmetics can be found in [[Box Truck|Box Trucks]], [[ARDA Investigator|ARDA Investigators]], [[Payload|Payloads]], [[Pneumatic Deposit Box|Pneumatic Deposit Boxes]], and received randomly when opening [[Dumpster Pearl|Dumpster Pearls]].

Each paint can has a maximum durability of 30 (applications), though they will have a randomized durability value when found. At the start of the game, the car's body and its panels will have Light Blue Paint applied, while crafted panels will always have no paint (i.e. the same bare steel color that is obtained by using Paint Stripper). Paint Stripper, unlike other paints, will remove decals when applied.

Goldshells can be found on [[Goldshell Stump|Goldshell Stumps]]. When found they have a locked status and can be one of six different types, each of which have different requirements to open them.

To open Conductive Goldshells, they will need to be subjected to electric damage until its durability bar reaches 0. This can be achieved by throwing it at [[Anomalies]] such as [[Sizzling Mist]], [[Minutemen]], [[Shocked Tourist|Shocked Tourists]] and [[Spark Tower|Spark Towers]] or by using the [[Plasma Charger]] on it. You can also place it on the Parking Sensor in the Auto Shop and use the Battery Charger to open it.
